Quilting: Fabric Art Quilting

Monday 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Childcare Room 2

Have you ever wanted to create a beautiful piece of quilted fabric art but didn’t know where to start? Then this course is for you! Whether you are a beginner or an advanced quilter, come learn how to quilt your own piece of fabric art incorporating the Japanese method of embroidery known as Sashiko. You will also learn how to embellish your piece. The course will also cover how to measure, mark, design, cut and finish a small quilt. The instructor will review fabric choices, thread choices, how to transfer your design onto fabric, how to hand quilt Sashiko style, how to embellish with beads and buttons, and how to complete the piece by either “birthing,” binding, or framing. Beginners to quilting can expect to spend an additional $35 to $65 for supplies, including tools and fabrics.

Please bring the following supplies to the first class:

  • 1/2 meter 100% cotton fabric, solid colour of your choice
  • 1 pack Chacopy Paper by Clover
  • scissors or rotary cutter
  • piece of solid fabric
  • blunt tracing wheel
