Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Type: Part-time – 20 hours per week
Remuneration: $25 per hour
Work Location: West Island Women’s Centre, Pointe-Claire (hybrid options may be considered)
Position Summary
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing the Centre’s marketing and communications activities. This role ensures that the West Island Women’s Centre’s mission — to be the resource for women in the West Island is clearly reflected in all public communications and outreach.
The Coordinator manages the Centre’s digital presence, produces bilingual promotional materials, supports fundraising campaigns through effective messaging, and helps increase awareness of the Centre’s programs, services, and community impact.
Core Objectives
- Increase visibility and awareness of the West Island Women’s Centre in the community.
• Strengthen engagement with members, partners, donors, and the public.
• Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications platforms.
• Support fundraising initiatives through clear and effective communications.
• Monitor communications efforts and track engagement where possible.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing and Communications Planning
- Develop andmaintaina communications and marketing plan aligned with the Centre’s priorities.
• Coordinate promotion of programs, activities, and services through digital and print communications.
• Ensure consistent branding, tone, and messaging across all communications materials.
• Monitor engagement and adjust communications strategies where appropriate.
Digital Communications
- Maintainand update the Centre’s website using WordPress, including posting program information, announcements, and updates.
• Manage the Centre’s social media platforms by creating and scheduling posts that promote programs, activities, and community initiatives.
• Prepare and distribute email newsletters and campaign messages.
• Monitor engagement on digital platforms and respond to comments or inquiries when appropriate.
Content Development
- Create bilingual promotional materials, including posters, brochures, social media graphics, and website content.
• Draft communications such as announcements, press releases, and promotional messages.
• Ensure written and visual communications are clear, accessible, and consistent with the Centre’s identity.
• Maintain organized archives of photos, graphics, and communications materials.
Fundraising Communications
- Support fundraising campaigns by preparing promotional materials and communications for donors and supporters.
•Assist with donor recognition communications and stewardship messages.
• Work with management and grant writers to ensure communications support funding priorities.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work with staff to ensure programs and activities are accurately promoted.
•Participate in staff meetings and planning discussions as required.
• Provide updates on communications activities and engagement results.
• Assist with other communications projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in communications or marketing (non-profit experience an asset).
• Excellent bilingual communication skills (English and French). - Familiarity with Microsoft suite of products
• Experience with Canva (and/or Affinity), social media platforms, and WordPress.
• Familiarity with basic analytics or engagement tracking tools.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a community-based environment.
Working Conditions
Based in Pointe-Claire. Some flexibility in schedule may be required during communications campaigns or organizational initiatives. Office environment with standard communications and technology tools.
