Administrative Assistant (Summer contract)
The West Island Women’s Centre is looking for a motivated and organized Administrative Assistant to join our team for the summer. This is a great opportunity for a student or young professional interested in communications, marketing, administration, community development, or nonprofit work.
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Rate: $21/hour
- Duration: Summer contract (9 weeks)
- Start date: June 2026 – August 2026 (Start and end dates are flexible)
- Locations: Pointe-Claire and Pierrefonds, West Island
- Working conditions: Hybrid
- Eligibility: Applicants must meet the Canada Summer Jobs Program eligibility criteria and be between 15–30 years old at the start of employment.
Job Overview
The Administrative Assistant will support the Centre’s day-to-day administrative and marketing activities while gaining hands-on experience in communications, event planning, data management, and nonprofit operations.
This role is a great opportunity for a student or young professional interested in administration, communications, marketing, community engagement, or nonprofit work who is looking to build practical experience while contributing to a community-focused organization.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Marketing & Communications
• Assist the marketing coordinator with administrative and organizational tasks
• Create social media templates for programs, events, outreach initiatives, and
childcare services
• Assist with the creation and scheduling of email communications
• Review website and social media metrics and assist with analytics reporting
• Support the planning and coordination of marketing campaigns
• Schedule website and social media postings
• Assist in the development of promotional and informational videos
Administration
• Provide administrative support to full-time staff members
• Assist with course registration and data entry
• Create statistical tracking templates and assist with information gathering
• Support event planning and logistics for upcoming campaigns and community
events
• Review and error-check registration activities and administrative information
• Assist with special projects, including preliminary work for future programming
initiatives
Qualifications
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media platforms
• Interest in community work, marketing, administration, or nonprofit organizations is
considered an asset
• Ability to travel between the Centre’s two locations
