Childcare Worker – Part time
The West Island Women’s Centre is seeking caring, reliable and energetic individuals to join our childcare team on a part-time basis.
Our on-site childcare is an important part of what we do. By caring for children while their moms participate in programs at the Centre, our childcare team helps make it easier for women to take time for themselves, connect with others and access the support they need.
Job Overview
Key responsibilities
- Provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children.
- Supervise and engage children through age-appropriate play, crafts, games and
activities. - Assist with setting up and tidying the childcare space.
- Follow the Centre’s childcare, health and safety procedures.
- Communicate respectfully with parents, caregivers, staff and other childcare
workers. - Respond calmly and appropriately to children’s individual needs.
- Support other childcare programs and activities at the Centre when required.
Qualifications and skills
- ECE certification or previous experience working with children in a childcare, camp,
recreation, school or similar setting. - Warm, patient and responsible approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to supervise children in a busy group environment.
- Ability to care for small babies.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Current first aid and CPR certification is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in English is required; French is an asset.
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check.
Position details
- Part-time, approximately 3 to 7 hours per week,
- Primarily afternoons and Saturday mornings
- Additional shifts may be available depending on program needs
- .2 Locations: West Island Women’s Centre, 11 Rodney Avenue, Pointe-Claire and Gerry Robertson Community Centre, 9665 Boul Gouin O., Pierrefonds, QC H8Y 1R4
- Hourly rate: $17.50 – $19.50 per hour depending on qualifications and experience
- Anticipated start date: September 7, 2026
