Nourri-Source Breastfeeding Drop-In
Nourri-Source offers a free breastfeeding drop-in at the Centre every week, providing a welcoming space for mothers to connect, share their experiences and build community.
No registration required.
New mothers can drop in to the West Island Women’s Centre every Monday from September 14 to December 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. Mothers-to-be, fathers, siblings and entourage are welcome too.
On select Mondays, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from Nourri-Source will be available to answer questions. On the other Mondays, a Nourri-Source volunteer will facilitate Breastfeeding Chat, an informal gathering for conversation and connection.
What to expect
Whether you have a specific question or simply want to meet other parents, you can:
- A friendly place where mothers-to-be and young mothers are welcomed to share their breastfeeding experience and receive the support they need.
- An opportunity to meet breastfeeding support volunteers and health professionals, such as nurses and lactation consultants.
- A way to help break the isolation that can occur after childbirth.
- A place to receive information on various topics and learn more about resources available in your neighbourhood.
- A welcoming space to meet and connect with other new parents.
You’re welcome even if you don’t have a breastfeeding question or concern.
Free support from a lactation consultant
Breastfeeding can bring questions at any stage, from preparing for your baby’s arrival to adjusting as your baby grows. On select Mondays, you can speak with a Nourri-Source lactation consultant at no cost and without an appointment.
You might have questions about latching, positioning, milk supply, pumping or changing feeding needs. The consultant can listen, offer practical guidance and help you explore what works for you and your baby. You can also stop by simply for reassurance.
Lactation consultant dates: September 14 and 28; October 26; November 2, 16 and 30; and December 7.
Breastfeeding Chat
On the other Mondays, a Nourri-Source volunteer will facilitate an informal gathering. Come to meet other parents, share what’s on your mind, ask questions or enjoy some time together.
