The Pay Equity Act: Your Rights

The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) is the government agency that ensures the application of employment rights and obligations in Quebec, notably in terms of pay equity. Pay equity aims to ensure that typically feminine jobs receive a salary equal to that of typically masculine jobs of equal value within the same organization. In this seminar, you will learn about the Pay Equity Act, the concepts of pay equality and pay equity, gender-based systemic discrimination, and employee rights and recourses. Please note: The presentation will be in French, followed by a bilingual question period.

Presenter: Maria Amalia Morales, Pay Equity Advisor with the CNESST. She has a B.A. in Communication and a DESS in Social Administration. She has been working for several years in the field of social and community development in Montreal and has been a part of the Quebec public service for over 4 years.

HPV Cancers Can Be Avoided: Here’s How

This seminar is designed to offer up-to-date accurate information about the human papillomavirus (HPV):

•  What this virus is and how it is transmitted.

•  The nine HPV-related cancers.

•  The HPV vaccines available for males and females.

•  Current screening information about the Pap test and the HPV test.

•  Ways of enhancing discussions about sexual health with healthcare professionals by talking about prevention through the HPV vaccine regardless of age and gender, and the best screening options available to you.

•  Local access to HPV prevention, cervical cancer screening and treatments for HPV-related diseases.

Presenter: Teresa Norris is the Founder and President of HPV Global Action, a National, bilingual registered charity since 2006. As a Sexual Health Specialist with an expertise in HPV, she appears regularly nationally and internationally, speaking in public, media, and academic forums on HPV-related issues & sexual health.
