55 Up! Women’s Group

The format for this free group is social and conversational. We sometimes just chat, but we also have facilitators lead us in crafts, or present on a topic of interest. Once per month we get together in the kitchen and make a meal which is donated to a local food security organization such as the West Island Mission. Come and enjoy connecting with other women from our community and breaking out of isolation. Join us for coffee, tea, and company! The Women’s Centre endeavors to provide support to all of the women who seek its services – mothers, women with part-time or full-time jobs outside the home, seniors, and women in financial difficulty. Our free outreach initiatives include support groups, Moms & tots activities, seniors groups, language classes, female adolescent programs and programs for women who have recently immigrated to our country. Time for Two playgroups Since October 2005, we have been offering Time for Two, an arts and crafts program for young families in the CLSC Lac St. Louis territory. Support Group Facilitators

On-going, from September to May Every session, the West Island Women's Centre offers both weekly and monthly support groups to all women of the larger community. We are currently accepting proposals for 8-week support groups. Our support group facilitators provide content, guidance, and encourage discussion and sharing. It is crucial for the facilitator to create a safe space for women participating to be heard and feel validated.
