WIWC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

The office is open until Tuesday, December 21 at 3:00 p.m., when the West Island Women’s Centre will close for the holiday break. The office will re-open on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 and most courses will begin the week of January 10th. Our online course participants will receive their login details during the week prior to the start of classes. For our in-person courses, if there is a need to move them online, we will be ready to do so. For any urgent inquiries, please email womenscentre@wiwc.ca. For all other inquiries, we will respond once the office is open on January 5th. We wish you a safe and relaxing holiday!

55 Up! Discussion Series

NEW TIME!Join us next week for our 55 Up! Discussion series featuring the first of two weeks with Valerie Kimpton, art conservator, animator and teacher as well as Hatha Yoga and Mindfulness instructor. "Based on Thich Nhat Hahn’s Pebble Meditation, we will follow our yoga practice with this simple way to connect with ourselves using breath, visualization and art. In these 2 classes, you will make little cards to keep as memories of our personal reflections on calm, strength, freshness and freedom." Courses begin on September 21st!

We are excited to announce that the West Island Women's Centre will reopen for classes starting on September 21st! We will have courses at the Centre with physical distancing measures put in place, as well as outside classes. We will also offer a great selection of online courses. For weekday daytime courses at the Centre, our free childcare service will be available with all safety protocols put into place. Stay tuned for the launch of the course schedule and descriptions on Wednesday August 26th. Participate in our Seniors’ Social Hour on Fridays

Are you, or a senior in your life, in need of some social contact this fall? We are very pleased to have a Senior Social Hour every Friday at 1pm at the West Island Women's Centre. It will start on Friday, September 25th. All physical distancing measures will be in place, with the group meeting outside as much as possible. This activity is free and anyone interested can register with Nadia at outreach@wiwc.ca or by calling 514-781-8529.Come join us for informal discussions, a chance to meet others in similar situations, and a relaxed atmosphere that is safe. Cerebral Palsy Guidance

Cerebral Palsy Guidance was created to provide answers and assistance to parents of a child with cerebral palsy. Our goal is to reach as many members of the cerebral palsy community as possible, building up a network of support, as well as providing necessary assistance. We cover cerebral palsy from all angles–from symptoms, causes, and treatment, to daily living information, such as communication and transitioning to adulthood articles.

Living Your Life with Emotional Intelligence

Learn how to strengthen your emotional intelligence (EI) with this 8-week support group. Topics covered include the five aspects of EI; why we act-react in various situations; the role of the past; and how we share our feelings with others. Come share your personal reflections and challenges, participate in group discussions, and learn how to use your EI skills in different aspects of your life. The group is facilitated by Yasmina E.
